Welcome to the Sewanee School of Theology Library home page. 

Most of the library resources for the School of Theology are housed on the third floor of the Jessie Ball duPont Library.  The offices for the Theology Librarians, Theology Reserve, Theology Reference, Theology Periodicals (current and bound), Diocesan Journals, and general collection material for Philosophy, Psychology, Religion, World Religions, Bible and Theology are all located on the third floor.  There are also computers, a photocopier, and many study tables and carrels.  The Urban T. Holmes reading area is furnished with comfortable leather overstuffed furniture.  The third floor is the "quiet" study floor in the library, and there is a locked group-study room reserved for Theology students.

Rob MacSwain, assistant professor of theology and Christian ethics in the School of Theology, is the author of “Correspondence and Documentation Related to Austin Farrer’s Baptism in the Church of England on 14 May 1924,” in the current issue of Anglican and Episcopal History (vol. 81, no. 3, for September 2012).  The article is on pages 241-276, and the issue is shelved with other current Theology periodicals on the third floor of the library.  This article is part of the author’s continuing project focusing on Farrer’s life and work.

The latest (summer 2012) issue of ANGLICAN THEOLOGICAL REVIEW has now arrived at the library.  Its table of contents is here: http://www.anglicantheologicalreview.org/read/issue/current/  Rob MacSwain of our faculty has a book review in this issue.

• July 30, 2012

Two new resources, shelved in Theology Reference, may be of interest.  One is AFRICA BIBLE COMMENTARY, a one-volume compilation of articles by African scholars on each book of the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament.  Its call number in Theology Reference is BS491.3 .A47 2010.
 
The supplementary volume to ENCYCLOPEDIA OF CATHOLIC SOCIAL THOUGHT, SOCIAL SCIENCE, AND SOCIAL POLICY has now appeared.  It is numbered as volume 3 and includes over two hundred new articles, many on people of importance in the development of Catholic social thought as well as on subjects and church documents not covered in the original two-volume set, which appeared in 2007.   All three volumes are shelved together in Theology Reference at BX1753 .E595 2007.

• November 10, 2011

Turning Points in My Life, the memoirs of Sewanee's own William Porcher DuBose, has now been issued in an abridged edition with a preface by Ben King, assistant professor of church history at the School of Theology.   The library has three copies and the archives one copy. Its call number is BX5995.D8 A3 2011.

The November issue of the periodical DIAPASON has an account of the 2011 iteration of the Sewanee Church Music Conference, which has been led for many years by Robbe Delcamp. The music performed is described, and there are photographs of the participants.
