JSTOR for Alumni/ae

You asked for it, we now provide it!
The Library is pleased to announce that we now offer free access to JSTOR for our alumni!

(Eligible alumni/ae are individuals who earned a degree from the University of the South.)

JSTOR contains over 1000 academic journals in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences. Also includes over a million images, letters, and other primary sources. Most journals are covered from their first issue up to 3-5 years from the current year, and include previous titles.

First, CLICK HERE to go to the login screen.

Next, there are two ways to login to JSTOR:

  1. If you have an active library account, enter your first and last names as the the user name, and your barcode number in the designated spaces.

  2. If you do not have an active library account, or are unsure if you do, email us at askref@sewanee.edu or call us at 931-598-1664 to obtain a username and barcode for JSTOR.

Project MUSE Journals for Alumni/ae

Project MUSE contains full-text versions of scholarly journals from many of the world's leading university presses and scholarly societies, mostly in the humanities and social sciences.

First, CLICK HERE to go to the login screen.

Next, there are two ways to login to Project Muse:

  1. If you have an active library account, enter your first and last names as the the user name, and your barcode number in the designated spaces.

  2. If you do not have an active library account, or are unsure if you do, email us at askref@sewanee.edu or call us at 931-598-1664 to obtain a username and barcode.

Note: We subscribe to the "Standard Collection" which is not all of the journals on this site. You may want to limit your search to "Only content I have full access to."

Sage Premiere Journals for Alumni/ae

A collection of over 700 journals published by Sage, covering topics in the humanities, social sciences, and science, technology, and medicine. More than 298 are published on behalf of learned societies and institutions.

1. Contact the Library to get a login. Please note that this is different than the login for JSTOR and Project Muse. Email us at  askref@sewanee.edu, or call us at 931-598-1664.

2. CLICK HERE to go to the Sage journal site.

3. Begin your search for content, and when you choose to read the full text of an article, you will be presented with a login screen where the credentials given to you by the Library will work.

It is important to follow the above steps because it does NOT work to log in at the Sage home screen.

Also, if you use the title list and choose a journal, you will only get a journal description and options for subscribing. You have to perform a search, then choose “All content” at the right of the results list to get to the page that actually has the articles.
