Covid-19 and Library Services

Interim Library Hours beginning Friday, November 20, 2020

Monday - Friday   8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Closed Saturday and Sunday

  • We are now open for currently registered students and currently employed staff and faculty. Family members, visitors, and community members are not allowed entrance at this time.
  • You must wear a mask and practice social distancing in the library.
  • You will need your University ID for entrance.
  • We will offer contactless checkout of materials at the Circulation Desk and at our Express Lane checkouts on the main and third floors. The book stacks are open.
  • Our contactless pick-up service will still be available to everyone. To make a request, email, or call the circulation staff at 931.598.1664 before noon for pick-up from 2-5 pm, Monday through Friday, on the front porch of the library.
  • We will be operating with limited capacity occupancy of 347 persons.

Contactless Pick-Up Service

The library offers a pick-up service for library materials.   To request library materials from the collection, please email the following information to our circulation staff by noon each day, Monday through Friday. These items will be available for pickup from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm the same day. To make a request, email, or call the circulation staff at 931.598.1664.

Be sure to include:

  • The title of the material(s) you want; a call number would be appreciated, but not required.
  • Your contact information: name, phone number, and email address.

Materials will be checked out to your account by the Circulation staff and then shelved alphabetically by your last name on the book truck. Items will be available for pick up between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm on a book truck on the library's covered front porch. If the pick-up time does not work for you, please let us know. We will contact you about an alternative method or time to get materials to you.

Special borrowing policies in place during this period:

  • You may check out more than the normal number of videos and audiobooks during this time.
  • You can return library materials 24 hours a day to either of our book drops–on the front porch of duPont Library or at the entrance of the rear parking lot.

We want to remind you about our Overdrive service for easy access to ebooks and electronic audiobooks. Go to: to learn more. You can make recommendations for purchase through this website also.

The library wants to support your reading, watching, and listening needs during this time. Please let us know if you have any questions, and stay safe.

  • The William R. Laurie University Archives and Special Collections will be also be closed until further notice to researchers. We will attempt to answer any queries submitted electronically as best we can. We can be contacted at .

  • Interlibrary loan of physical materials is being provided. Electronic delivery will continue. Both will have limited availability due to so many libraries being closed. Librarians can help users find alternatives.Any questions about current or future interlibrary loans can be directed to
