Jessie Ball duPont Library

Library Services for Students

A guide to using the library for college students at Sewanee.

Our goal is to support your classroom and research needs whether you are on campus or learning remotely. We have added some new services for our remote learners to have equal access to library resources.

Reserve Scanning Service - if there are reserve titles that you need, we can scan selected sections and have your professor add them to your course in Brightspace.  Please send your request through this webform.   We have purchased many Reserve titles as ebooks this semester, so please check the online catalog first to see if you can access the title electronically.

Checkout of duPont Library materials -- we have a new webform that you may use to request library materials (not on reserve) be checked out and mailed to your home address.  This service will incur a charge to your student account for the postage and we ask that you ship the material back with tracking.  Check out times for these items will be two months, but are subject to recall if other library patrons need them. Request this service.

Interlibrary Loan Service -- you can still request materials from other libraries that we do not have in duPont. Use this link to make your requests.  If you want the item mailed to you, please include that in the comments section of the request form. Articles or chapters scanned from other libraries will be sent to you electronically.  Physical items will be mailed to duPont Library and then our staff will confirm your mailing address before mailing the package to you.  Checkout time will be given to you based on the requirements from the lending library and we ask that you send your package back in plenty of time for us to process and return to the lending library. Please request a renewal before the item's due date. Renewals, if allowed, are granted at the discretion of the lending library. If a renewal is denied, you must return the item. You will be responsible for replacement costs if it is lost in the mail and there is no tracking/proof of return.
