English 530: The Life and Literature of Tennessee Williams

The mythic man and writer: a SOL research guide through the landscape of Tennessee Williams

Books: on your screen and in your hands

Because of COVID-19, all classes will be taught remotely this summer, and thus the library's building is closed. The good news is, much of your reading and research can be accessed online, including eBooks.

A guide to finding, downloading, and citing eBooks

But rest assured, all library staff are busy at work ordering, cataloging, and offering Remote Research help. We have created a new service for those of you who find a title that we own but cannot get into the library: Access Services can now mail you books in our catalog (and on our shelves) by mail. If you see a book in our catalog and would like to check it out for an extended period, here is more information as well as the online form you will submit. Please make sure you read the terms of agreement, especially shipping costs.

Locating Books

Use TigerSearch to:

  • Use TigerSearch to identify and locate books, video, audio and other material in our library.
  • Figure out your search terms. For example, Folk Music and Appalachia.
  • When you find your book, look around at the books around it. You may end up finding other great resources.

Use WorldCat to:

  • Identify materials held by other libraries around the world.
  • If Sewanee doesn't own it, then you can request it through interlibrary loan. See the box below.

Use Google Books to:

  • Search the full-text of some books.
  • Find other sources that will be useful to your search.
