A guide to community member use of duPont Library.


Can I borrow materials as a Community Member?

  • You must be affiliated with:
    • University of the South
    • St. Andrew’s-Sewanee (SAS) school
    • Or be a permanent resident of Sewanee, Franklin County, or one of the Tennessee counties bordering Franklin County.
  • You must be 8 years old or older.
  • Children under the age of 18 need to have a parent or guardian with them when applying for a library card, with the exception of SAS students. A photo ID must be shown with application.
  • Replacement cards are available for $10.00 each.

How long can I borrow a book?

  • 5 weeks for books for Community Members
  • Renew up to 2 times (in person, online, or over the phone)

Movies, Music, and Audio Books


  • Checked out for 7 days
  • May not be renewed
  • Check out 5 films at a time
  • Must be 18 or older to check out R-rated or Mature-Rated videos


  • Checked out for 3 days
  • Check out 3 CDs at a time

Audio Books

  • Checked out for 5 weeks
  • Check out 3 audio books at a time
  • We also offer streaming audiobooks and ebooks from Overdrive
