      The New University Archives Building

      KS House

Behind this beautifully appointed house that stores rare books collections is a large annex housing the rest of Archives and Special Collections. The combined buildings total 11,000 square feet and provide seminar space, a large exhibition space and several other exhibit areas, quiet places to study, browsing for some of the secured collections, a secured research room, office and work space, and ample compact shelving for both cataloged and new materials. The large, covered wraparound porch offers rocking chairs for comfortable conversation or study. A new 70" portable LED LCD creates opportunities to scrutinize maps or to show visual material from the archives for audiences. The buildings are equipped with superior fire, environmental, and security systems and are endowed for continued maintenance. The renovation of the house (formerly the Kappa  Sigma fraternity and later a residence) and building of the annex was made possible by Mr. William R. Laurie, C'52 and Kappa Sigma alum.
