January 2024 -- Epistolary Works and MLK Day

by Pat Dover on 2024-01-05T06:12:00-06:00 | 0 Comments

Epistolary works use letters to tell their story. Whether it's Matthew Olzmann addressing a 52-Hertz whale on ideas of loneliness, or Vincent Van Gogh reaching out to relatives and artists alike, letters can be an incredibly powerful tool of expression. As we move into 2024, we hope these works will inspire you, and open up a greater understanding of this increasingly rare form of communication, along with the art that comes with it.

This year marks the 37th national observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. An impressive and incredible man, Dr. King worked tirelessly for the civil rights movement for most of the latter half of his life, until his assassination in 1968. Remembering his legacy and honoring his work towards equality, our display features an array of books and films for your study and enjoyment. This display is located on top of the shelves of the Children's Collection.

All of the display items are available for checkout, and you can view title lists here.
