Art History 335: Nineteenth-Century Art

A guide to basic information on Nineteenth-Century Art, Art History 335.

Finding Books on 19th Century Art

When searching for physical art history books related to this class's topic in the library's collection, start by searching key words relevant to your topic and searching using Tigersearch.

  1. For example, you might copy and paste this into Tigersearch:(("Nineteenth Century" OR "19 century") AND art) AND (France OR Germany OR Spain OR England)
  2. Then, click "All Filters" and choose Print Books Only. This should connect you with relevant print resources in the library.
  3. Or click "Books and Media (No Articles)" in the Filters Menu for ebooks and print books, as well as visual media options.

This is not a comprehensive search by any means - we recommend testing our a variety of search strategies as well as perusing the nearby shelves to find more relevant books.

Using TigerSearch

TigerSearch searches our library’s holdings along with the contents of most of our databases. Some databases are not accessible to TigerSearch, so if you want to search those databases, you need to go to them directly. (See a list of databases not included in TigerSearch here.)

The filters give you lots of ways to target your results, by language, by geographic area, by type of material. Buttons also allow you to limit your search to peer reviewed articles or items that have full text available online.
