The Real Secret to Note Taking!

Critical Thinking

The methods and mechanics of good note taking is only part of the learning process. As you encounter new information, run it through the entire critical thinking process. One of the best frameworks for understanding the critical thinking process was created by social scientist Benjamin Bloom, which is referred to as Bloom's Taxonomy. He separated critical thinking into six successive levels: (1) remembering, (2) understanding, (3) applying, (4) analyzing, (5) evaluating, and (6) creating.

Find out more about Bloom's Taxonomy on this wonderful guide presented by the Center for Teaching at Vanderbilt University.
