Library Policies

A resource to library policies about materials and computer use.

Lost and Found Policy

The Library is not responsible for any patron’s lost or left behind items. Patrons are solely responsible for their own property. All unclaimed items or found items turned into the Circulation Desk will be placed on the Library’s Lost and Found shelves. As a courtesy to our patrons, the Library staff will make a reasonable attempt to determine and contact the rightful owner of the lost property if the property contains sufficient identifying information. Hazardous and perishable items will be discarded immediately.

Lost and found items will be stored on the Lost and Found shelves until the end of each semester, at which time the Library staff will decide the appropriate method of disposal.

Lost and found items of obvious value (car keys, computers, cell phones, wallets, credit/debit cards, etc.) will be held securely for 48 hours and turned over to the Sewanee Police Department.  When claiming valuably lost and found items, owners must present a valid form of photo identification.
